Who will you be working with?

As a member of the Elastomers Group, the successful candidate will oversee daily production operations and ensure all company policies and guidelines are being followed by all employees. They will manage plant safety & security, supervise employees, maintain production levels, and ensure SOI’s are followed.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Elastomer Group in the Components Team, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our second shift team. This individual will help ensure a smooth transition between shifts, help us meet our customers’ needs and maintain the safety of our employees. This role reports to the Plant Manager. Remote work is not available.

  • Bachelor's degree (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to coordinate one to two projects simultaneously.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Provide technical assistance and leadership to the Operations team including operations, equipment troubleshooting, and repair.

  • Help train and develop technical skills of Operations employees; educate employees on business strategy and metrics.

  • Actively participate in Environment, Health and Safety initiatives and corrective actions as an expert in the safety aspects of the Operations team’s scope

  • Support and meet production schedules, drive productivity and quality initiatives, and manage the area within budget; utilize data analysis to identify and execute improvement projects.

  • Interface with internal and external customers, define priorities for shifts and work groups leveraging shift start-up / shift-change meetings.

  • Manage employees and schedule requirements, including timekeeping, overtime, time off, and discipline.

  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring process; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Communicate and enforce safety policies, the employee handbook and other plant policies.

  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams and demonstrate necessary leadership and coaching skills to other team members.

  • Schedule and run first piece set-ups and inspections on all Railroad and miscellaneous jobs on Press line # and #3 when lead operator is absent.

  • Supervise and coordinate press operator activities or duties on Press line #2 and #3 when lead operator is absent.

  • Trouble shoot quality problems in all departments when necessary.

  • Oversee startup of shutdown of plant on weekends and holidays

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Exposure to shop floor requires wearing steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • Must be able to walk, climb, stoop, bend, and lift to 30 lbs.

  • Frequently talk; use hands and fingers to handle; reach with hands and arms (up to 6 hours/8-hour workday)

  • Ability to read small print on labels.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
