Open Sky Community Services Safe Homes Drop-In Center - Counselor in Worcester, Massachusetts

Salary

USD $17.50/Hr.

Description and Responsibilities

Safe Homes is a drop-in center and support group for LGBTQIA+ youth ages 14-23. The program provides a safe space where youth are nurtured and validated in all aspects of their identities. The program is youth led, adult advised and provides leadership opportunities, life skills, educational activities, one on one counseling, and a sense of community for marginalized young people.

The Drop-In Counselor will provide supervision and support to youth and young adults at the Safe Homes program as well as assist in day to day operations for both the Worcester and Fitchburg Drop-In Centers. They will play a key role in the community by participating in events and off site activities and will represent the Safe Homes program.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to develop and plan the Safe Homes’ quarterly activities schedule.

  • Assist in designing, conducting, and leading drop-in activities.

  • Complete nightly functions through setting up, cleaning, organizing, keeping inventory, and assisting participants with receiving service.

  • Provide transportation to youth and young adults as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.

  • Experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults, required.

  • Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving history, required.
