Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, Information Security and Privacy Group (ISPG). As a Information Security Specialist, GS-0080-14, you will develop, coordinate, and plan a wide range of work methods or improvement of complex processes related to the integration of the National Security Information (NSI) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs. Responsibilities Classification Security Officer responsible for managing all collateral national security information (classified formation) for the agency. Special Security Officer responsible for managing all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) for the agency. Serve as the Communications Security (COMSEC) Officer for the agency. Investigate incidents involving classified COMSEC material, take immediate action, guide investigating officers, and ensure all investigation requirements are met. In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Serving as an Information Security (INFOSEC) Officer for all collateral security responsibilities; 2) Serving as a Special Security Officer (SSO) managing a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF); 3) Developing and implementing policies and programs utilizing knowledge of communications security (COMSEC) regulations, polices and precedents and security requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
