Job Title: Quality Technician

Job Description

The Quality Technician ensures the highest standards of quality for our packaging machinery. This role involves inspecting incoming outsourced products, in-process assemblies, machining operations, and final inspections. The Quality Technician will utilize various measurement tools, read blueprints, understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and work within our ERP system to create 'go, no go' reports.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret and analyze engineering blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Apply knowledge of GD&T to ensure parts meet specified tolerances.

  • Utilize a variety of measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, surface roughness testers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, Faro Arm or similar tool.

  • Efficiently work within the company's ERP system to track and document quality inspections and reports.

  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming outsourced products from vendors, in-process assemblies during manufacturing, machining operations, and final product inspections before shipment.

  • Create detailed 'go, no go' reports based on inspection results and communicate findings to relevant departments.

  • Ensure all products meet high standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.

Essential Skills

  • 5 or more years of experience in a Quality Technician role, preferably in packaging or machine shop environments.

  • Experience in reading blueprints and GD&T.

  • Proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and others.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics or similar environments is beneficial.

  • Trade school education is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

The company employs 230 people and occupies 256,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space. The facility is brand new as of February 2021 and includes all departments under one roof with state-of-the-art amenities. The quality team comprises three employees who work within a dedicated cage area and in production, depending on the workload.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wood Dale, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
