Cook Medical Senior Engineering Project Specialist in Winston Salem, North Carolina
Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assure responsibility for the design of all machinery to be used in manufacturing. Design machine electrical systems using software to generate drawings, as well as other documentation. Design software for integrated control of machinery. Interface with Production Engineering Manager to make recommendations on existing or future automation needs.
Responsibilities
Design systems for automation equipment to facilitate improvements per manufacturing needs
Work in conjunction with Engineers, Mechanical Designers, and/or Production Managers to determine the design requirements to improve, and/or automate a production process
Develop electrical schematics, control software, and machine procedures for operations, troubleshooting, and maintaining a machine or process
Attend various trade shows to source new materials and ideas
Build and test new machinery
Assist with the installation of new or unique equipment as well as validation, testing, and start-up per QSP9.0
Perform other duties as assigned
Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization
Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Must maintain company quality and quantity standards
Must have effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision
Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations
Qualifications
• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Work experience in basic electricity/electronics and design work
• Work experience with programming PLC's, Servomotor, Steppemotor Control Systems, and pneumatic circuitry • Knowledge of Computer Control Systems
• Ability to read/write/understand logic programs, electrical drawings, mechanical drawings and specifications
• Thorough understanding of motion control systems
• Ability to use measuring devices and gauges
• Good computer entry-retrieval skills
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations• Good manual dexterity• Must have full visual color perception
• Majority of work is performed in various product or lab locations, requiring safety glasses
