Career Opportunity:

WestRock is an essential service provider making corrugated containers for a variety of applications. We are currently looking for a 3rd Class Power Engineer to be a part of our maintenance team. Fourth class engineers are welcome to apply if continuing their education to 3rd Class. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for the preventative, predictive and troubleshooting of a steam boiler and production equipment. Knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical work is preferred.

To be considered for this position, you must be able to work Monday - Friday, 8-hours per day with a weekly rotating shift; midnights 11:00 pm - 7:00 am; afternoons 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm and days 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

All successful applicants must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal background check, pre-employment medical and a Clear Drug Test.

What You Need To Succeed:

  • Ensure that safety codes and other applicable regulation are followed in relations to steam and boiler

  • Assess problems and make changes to existing electrical systems in order to improve performance.

  • Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions in a fast paced, high pressure environment

  • Repair or replace defective machinery parts on various equipment

  • Operate machining tools to fabricate parts

  • Basic welding and fabrication skills

  • Good communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Must be able to work independently and be self-directed in a demanding, fast-paced production environment, adjusting to changing priorities & roles as required

  • Must be willing to work in a team environment

  • Ability balancing a variable workload

  • Flexibility to work weekends to meet business needs when required

  • Daily use of electrical and mechanical skills to support 24hr production equipment.
