Project Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our major utility client. This position's primary responsibility will be associated with leading large capital projects including steps such as evaluation, benefit-cost analysis, budgeting, writing specifications, initiating contracts, tracking costs, ordering equipment, quality assurance of installations, and updating procedures & drawings. Candidates must be willing to accept challenging projects that incorporate multi-discipline work (civil, electrical, and mechanical). Candidates should possess interpersonal skills to work with plant personnel, vendors, and a wide range of contractors to accomplish projects. The position will require sufficient technical/engineering knowledge to assist system owners in their daily responsibility.

This position will involve the coordination of projects during unit outages.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide outage/project management, project budget management, long term maintenance strategies and technical support to the plant

  • Monitor plant performance and make recommendations to improve heat rate

  • Utilize computer business tools to develop and justify budgets, write work orders, order material, develop project schedules, and monitor equipment.

  • Initiate, troubleshoot and review root cause analyses for system equipment failures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Critical knowledge of fossil power plant cycles and an ability to diagnose problems.

· Good oral/written communication skills and ability to work effectively with varied individuals (craft personnel, support staff, supervisory staff, and management) is a must

· Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required

· Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative is crucial for this position

· Must be physically capable of working in a industrial plant environment.

  • Must have a Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical preferred, Mechanical, etc.)
