Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina Shopping and Product Coordinator in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Responsibilities:

As an ambassador of the Food Bank and always representing the organization in a friendly and professional manner, ensure all partner agency representatives are treated equitably and maintain accuracy of product being distributed to partner agencies. (75%)

  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and Food Bank standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct accurate data entry in ERP system and all documentation is being signed, properly recorded, and filed.
  • Develop and/or use marketing techniques to better inform partner agency representatives of product usability (out by dates, recipes, etc.), maintain a clean and neat appearance of your workspace, and post product quantity limits and other pertinent information.
  • Ensure partner agency representatives adhere to all requirements set forth in the Partner Agency agreement and enforce any inconsistencies (eg., freezer blanket for perishable product, closed toed shoes, etc.).

Perform/assist with other tasks relevant to the position. (25%)

  • Maintain a safe and accident-free workplace environment.
  • Be engaged in any pertinent meetings and use appropriate technology timely and effectively.
  • Actively listen, communicate, and collaborate with co-workers.
  • Follow inventory cycle count procedures as prescribed by the Director of Distribution and Inventory Control.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required, some college coursework is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the listed qualifications.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an administrative customer service and/or community service environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations and complete food safety training.
  • Prior forklift certification is preferred. Ability to become forklift certified is required.
  • Relevant warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Preferred experience with inventory management software including barcoding and scanners
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must believe in the mission of the organization.

Work Environment:

  • General warehouse environments, including refrigerator, produce cooler, and freezer with temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Some protective clothing will be provided and m st be worn for this work.
  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is required to work in a warehouse setting.
  • The employee will be required to interact with Food Bank personnel in the warehouse(s).
  • The employee will occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
  • Safety toe footwear with non-skid soles is required.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • The warehouse can be extremely cold at times and extremely hot during the summer months.
