Configuration Management Specialist
Within Horizontal Operations we are accountable for the day-to-day management of the Network Asset, Inventory and Configuration Management processes, which also includes the Sparing Strategy and ensuring operational readiness, governance, and compliance for both internal and external controls and policies.
Maintain the integrity of Network Owned Assets and Configuration Items (CIs) in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) are identified, cataloged and tracked throughout their lifecycle within the system of record (HP Asset Manager, HP Service Manager, and or Service Now)
Partner with Project and Delivery Teams to ensure assets are registered and CI’s are created in an automated fashion
Identify and address process improvements - be an advocate for support teams and drive process simplification
Create and maintain process documentation and manage document repository
Responsible for ensuring the system of record is kept up to date
Responsible for the creation, maintaining and sharing of process documentation to support this role
Partner with Enterprise Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) team to ensure processes are in alignment and we are aware of any upcoming process and tool changes.
Conduct process/inventory audits, document and communicate results
Assist with ongoing Asset Lifecycle needs as assigned
Responsible for smaller Inventory Management needs
The Ideal Candidate will Have:
Experience and knowledge of Asset/Inventory and Configuration Management, methodologies and best practices
Strong asset inventory management skills to ensure appropriate inventory stock to support sparing strategies
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions and present findings in a clear, concise manner
Ability to problem solve – leverages active listening skills and seeks first to understand
Very Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
Must be a team player and able to work with and through others
Ability to influence and negotiate
Experience with Network Device Command Syntax
Ability to manipulate data to drive specific results
High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of experience working with Network hardware devices
At least 2 years of experience with Asset and Configuration Management
ITIL Foundations certification - V2 or higher
At least 2 years of experience working in Audit and Compliance
At least 1 year of experience using or developing in Service Now
At least 1 year of experience scripting in Python
At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office and Google (Excel and Google Sheets) including visual basic scripting
Service Now Admin and Development Certification
Experience with Network Device Command Syntax for Cisco, F5, CheckPoint, Palo Alto, InfoBlox
Cisco CCNA Certification or greater
