UPMC Hospice Volunteer Coordinator- Williamsport, Wellsboro and Cole in Williamsport, Pennsylvania
UPMC Family Hospice is hiring a Full-time Volunteer Coordinator.
This position is mainly daylight with occasional evenings and weekends.
Purpose:
Coordinate the activities and responsibilities of Hospice Volunteers and related Hospice activities. This will be done in a manner consistent with efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement volunteer retention strategies.
Demonstrate support of the Agency mission and philosophy in the delivery of services.
Ensure that volunteer services meet regulatory requirements of patient care hours provided by hospice staff and that they are matched by at least 5% of total volunteer hours annually.
Develop and implement specialized training for volunteers who provide care for specialty populations (patients in nursing homes, pediatric programs).
Provide for continuing education/in-services to maintain and improve the knowledge and skills of the volunteers and to meet accreditation regulations.
Maintain networking relations with community and hospice organizations as necessary.
Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.
Consult with the Vice President of Operations for In-Home Services. Determine number and skills of volunteers required to meet unique needs of patients and families.
Analyze and document annual cost savings through use of volunteers.
Assist in the development of the volunteer budget and meet annual budget expectations.
Participate and advocate for Hospice/Hospice Volunteer opportunities and activities throughout the home Nursing Agency service area.
Participate in selected Interdisciplinary Team conferences.
Annually analyze how the diversity of volunteers correlates with the communities served.
Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
Plan and implement the annual memorial services in coordination with the Bereavement Coordinator.
Submit volunteer program reports to the Vice President as necessary.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the Hospice Volunteer Program. Recruit, select, and ensure the assignment of Hospice Volunteers for home support, bereavement, and /or administrative skills. Develop and implement a volunteer training program. Review Volunteer Contract Records for content and follow up on any identified concerns. Evaluate the performance of volunteers annually. Oversee and/or prepared and sent volunteer mileage reports to the business office. Develop a competency program for volunteers. In coordination with the Volunteer Scheduler, assigned Volunteers to home care patients as requested. Recommend and monitor volunteer fundraisers. Expand the volunteer program by broadening activities to meet patient/family and community needs. Maintain Hospice volunteer records in accordance with established policies, certifications and accreditation regulations. Facilitate monthly volunteer meetings, prepare and send minutes.
Maintain and protect patient, client, and Agency confidentiality.
Implement and develop monitoring activities and performance improvement initiatives to assure the volunteer program is in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Endeavor to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal/external customers.
Bachelor's degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field required.
One year of experience in a related position is preferred.
Competency in computer skills in a Windows-based environment. Demonstrate ability to perform computer skills in specialized computer application(s) as needed.
Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania driver's license and auto liability insurance.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered, certified or licensed as required by state law for profession.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
