Bon Secours Mercy Health Radiology Technician II in Willard, Ohio

SUMMARY:

Performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures with the knowledge of appropriate technical requirements necessary to safely acquire radiographic images for radiologist interpretation. Clerical procedures, aide functions and other duties will be assigned as directed by the manager. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.

Variable hours to cover for open shifts of all hours. Must be available to cross train in CT.

Knowledge and Abilities:

High school diploma or GED. Graduate of an approved JRC program.

Knowledge of safe operation of X-ray generating equipment and hospital procedures including infection control.

Must have demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and dedication to principles of quality patient care and technical and professional education.

Must maintain a professional level that promotes the well-being of the patient and team work among the health care providers.

Must remain knowledgeable of radiation protection requirements.

Employs proper body mechanics and techniques for transport and positioning of patients and equipment.

Certification or Licensure Requirement:

  • ARRT Certification, Current Ohio License. Current BLS certification

  • General Orientation: Orientation to provide understanding of existing hospital an departmental policies and procedures, as well as the values and requirements of Mercy Health Partners.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a demanding, fast paced environment with possible exposure to contagious disease and human body fluids.

Standing, walking, pushing, stooping and lifting are required.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

Leadership responsibility in the absence of the department manager and the supervisor. Routine leadership required for participation in the student radiographer program.

Leadership required for inventory and ordering supplies, for patient scheduling and organization of all work requests for the day.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Complies with established hospital policies, procedures, practices to assure that standards of quality, efficiency and safety are met. Deals fairly, reasonably, considerately and honestly with all others associated with the hospital including employees, patients, visitors, and respects others personal dignity and rights.

Maintains proficiency with all procedures and equipment in the assigned radiology area, performs diagnostic procedures with efficiency and safety.

Interacts with department staff, ancillary departments, nursing staff, physicians and patients to ensure an organized and comprehensive implementation of patient care.

Maintains or develops other related skills depending upon the departmental needs

Ensures a state of cleanliness and readiness throughout the work area, assures the physical and emotional well being of the patient while in the area

Documents appropriate patient information on required and supplemental forms. Completes all other required documentation such as routine equipment checks and QA activities. Provides other statistic as necessary.

*Performs limited office duties including file room cleanup, filing and file retrieval
