Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will take charge of critical accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to driving process improvements.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and post various journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and depreciation.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, identify discrepancies, and implement resolutions.
• Analyze monthly financial performance and provide detailed variance explanations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
• Maintain and update accounting schedules for fixed assets, amortization, and related items.
• Support external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of financial operations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices. Requirements • Proven experience in account reconciliation, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Proficiency in month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
