Spirit AeroSystems Senior Manager - Quality/Twin Aisle/Propulsion in Wichita, Kansas

Responsibilities

Location: Wichita, KS

Key Accountabilities:

The Senior Manager of Quality will be responsible for all quality initiatives for a set of global programs. The successful candidate will lead a team of Senior Managers and Front Line Managers.

  • The Senior Manager ensures that the quality standards of the company and its suppliers are maintained in accordance with commitments made to company management and customers.

  • Advocates continuous improvement principles and concepts to attain company’s vision of efficient manufacturing within a lean enterprise.

  • Directs full range of Quality Assurance policies, programs and procedures for the company through a team of functional managers and supervisors to achieve superior product quality and optimum customer satisfaction.

  • Defines and recommends Quality objectives consistent with company’s strategic plan; develops specific short-term and long-range plans to achieve these, including staffing and budget requirements.

  • Establishes and maintains effective cross functional communication also including subordinates, executive management, and/or customer representatives.

  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate rapid resolution and improved working relationships.

  • Effectively works cross-functionally with other areas such as manufacturing, engineering, contracts administration, facilities, procurement and human resources to ensure optimum support and coordination with Quality goals.

  • Directs, coaches and guides direct and cross functional team members in attainment of goals and support a highly cross-trained workforce ensuring positive employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development.

  • Interviews, hires, appraises and, if necessary, disciplines personnel on a timely basis and in compliance with applicable company policies and federal/state laws.

  • Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for employees under supervision. Ensures and models compliance with all applicable company standards.

  • Maintains currency in related technological development in industry to assure continuous improvement in the quality of company products.

  • Transitioning from legacy systems to the SAP platform for the quality components.

    Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree preferred.

  • This role requires US Citizenship.

  • Extensive Aerospace experience is strongly desired.

  • 10-15 years progressive related experience in quality assurance.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Operations experience a plus.

  • Working knowledge of applicable aerospace standards and regs including ISO-9000, AS9100, FARS & DFARS and experience in certifying and maintaining a quality system to these standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports, forecasts and budgets.

  • Needs to be well versed in Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing, all standard measuring techniques and requirements.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships between diverse groups (internal and/or external) through effective use of team building.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and coach people; able to obtain results through others.

  • Effective project and program management skills; able to bring projects/programs to successful outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and plan for the future of the business.

  • Working knowledge of CIP and Lean Manufacturing techniques, etc.
