WICHITA FALLS-CITY OF PUMP PLANT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - RESOURCE RECOVERY in Wichita Falls, Texas

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to inspect, maintain and repair equipment and facilities at any or all locations of water and wastewater treatment plants. This is accomplished by inspecting equipment and facilities, completing routine preventive maintenance, generating work orders, ordering equipment, parts and supplies, and researching equipment operation. Other duties include fabricating materials, installing hangers and fixtures, preparing and installing equipment, cleaning and maintaining grounds and facilities, and providing security.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Individuals must pass the Class D Wastewater Certification from TCEQ within 1 year of hire or promotion. The Class C Wastewater Certification from the TCEQ must be completed within 2 years of hire or promotion as a condition of employment. Individuals will be given 4 attempts at each certification exam during the required period. An individual who fails 4 attempts at either the D or C level will be considered for termination.

Drivers License Required - Y Type - A Endorsements - N - Tanker Individuals who do not currently have a Class A - N license will be given until 1 business day prior to the end of their probation to meet this requirement as a condition of employment

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work different shifts and be on call Position subject to being called in to work twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in addition to their regularly scheduled work day. Mission Essential Position will be required to report for all inclement weather. This position is expected to regularly work in or around bodies of water greater in depth than 4 feet, which may pose hazard, especially in the absence of swimming ability. Employees of this class must wear a self-contained breathing apparatus, thus facial hair is prohibited.

Code Essential Functions

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice 2 L Assembles crews, materials and equipment required for repair or emergency projects; oversees and participates in executing major or complex repair or installation projects; reports need for major replacements as well as continuing service and maintenance work. 3 L Inspects equipment and conditions at sewage lift stations and wastewater treatment facilities; and assists in the absence of Mechanic. 4 L Maintains records of work performed and of time and materials; states requirements for supplies and replacement parts or equipment. 5 M Completes preventive maintenance activities by repairing all equipment and areas of buildings, replacing lighting and electrical equipment, completing plumbing projects, working on HVAC systems and exhausts, checking and changing oil, belts, and lubricating parts, ordering and replacing parts, disposing of chemicals, and completing work orders. 6 H Maintains all equipment by checking equipment operations, checking for leaks, removing, repai ing and replacing parts, checking all valves, and rebuilding and repairing, installing equipment which could include electrical, plumbing, and electronics. 7 H Completes special projects by reviewing plans and specifications, welding and/or fabricating parts, completing plumbing, electrical and carpentry work orders, and installing and maintaining equipment. 6 H Responds to emergencies by answering pages and completing call out activities, responding to requests, and working extended periods of time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

-Description of Minimum Job Requirements- Formal Education Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Experience Under and including one year.
