POSITION SUMMARY:
The Machinist I is responsible for setting up and operating advanced 5-axis milling centers and/or CNC lathes to manufacture both prototype and production hardware for cutting-edge turbomachinery applications. These components power clean and renewable energy solutions, enhance the efficiency of diesel engines, propel state-of-the-art aircraft and rocket engines, and support many other innovative technologies.
As a valued member of our dynamic team, and following a period of training, Machinist I team members are expected to prove out, troubleshoot, and operate CNC programs with minimal supervision, adhering to detailed processes. They will use hand-held metrology tools and other precision measurement equipment to verify setups and part dimensions. Additionally, they will interpret blueprints and CNC programs to manufacture mid-to-high complexity components for aerospace, industrial, power generation, and rocketry applications.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Setup and operate mills and/or lathes according to supplied processes and programs.
- Prove out new programs and processes under the direction of Senior Machinists & Programmers.
- Verify product quality using inspection devices such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, routers, and CNC programs.
- Responsible for accurate record keeping of dimensions.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all safety policies and guidelines.
