Location: Industrial Services – Travel

Salary: $125K to $150K Depends on Experience – Competitive pay and benefits package

Position Overview:

Position requires a strong background in development and oversight of a robust safety program and remote safety teams. The Divisional Safety Manager works with the Senior VP of Industrial Services as well as the Regional Managers to develop, roll out, and maintain the Safety Culture, Programs, ensure alignment with the strategic objectives of the Industrial Services division. The Divisional Safety Manager is responsible for managing the regional safety managers to ensure high-level and consistent operating procedures and conditions at work sites to be able to effectively determine risks of injury, occupational disease and potential damage to property and equipment. The Divisional Safety Manager works with staff to develop and implement measures for controlling workplace hazards, while limiting financial impacts to the business. In addition, this individual is the company’s primary champion for all safety related matters on industrial job sites throughout the region.

Job Duties:

  • Establish and maintain safety specific organization chart for Industrial Services, within the established budgetary and strategic constraints of the organization.

  • Establish, implement and report on annual safety goals and metrics with the support of the Senior VP and Regional Managers

  • Ongoing evaluation of the safety specific needs and resources within Industrial Services to support the growth of the business.

  • Develop and oversee new employee safety orientation program and support ongoing job specific safety training to all employees.

  • Support regional safety managers in establishing and adhering to a schedule for preparing, submitting, reviewing, and accepting all job site safety plans, forms, and incident investigations.

  • Develop and implement safety programs tailored to the specific needs and risks of the division, including policies, procedures, and training programs.

  • Ensure subcontractor compliance regarding safety and health requirements that comply with Loenbro and customer standards.

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data on near-miss incidents, injuries, and illnesses for the region. Develop programs and procedures to prevent such incidents.

  • Participate in fact finding Root Cause Analysis for injury/incident investigations and obtain accident and injury report from jobsites.

  • Review weekly written reports from regional safety managers providing an overview of all safety-related matters at sites.

  • Coordinate with safety teams to conduct regular safety meetings. This includes preparing materials, setting agendas, and recording meeting minutes.

  • Support the facilitation of “return to work program” with employees, medical professionals, and project personnel.

  • Participate in regular Job Audits and worksite observations.

  • Serve as liaison for worker’s compensation reporting, case management, and participate in claims management process.

  • Participate as a productive team member within the leadership team of Industrial Services

  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety

    Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field required, with a focus on safety management or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive safety experience in the construction field, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership, including management of personnel.

  • Extensive working knowledge of OSHA regulations, standards, and other applicable codes/regulations, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance.

  • Prior experience working within the heavy industrial construction industry, including manufacturing, pipeline, mining, food and beverage, power, and refining environments.

  • Ability to lead and manage a team of safety professionals effectively, demonstrating strong leadership skills and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating safety policies, procedures, and training to divisional staff at all levels. This includes conducting safety meetings, presentations, and training sessions.

  • Proven ability to assess potential hazards and risks within divisional operations and develop and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.

  • Experience in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate safety processes and procedures based on data analysis, feedback, and industry best practices, leading to continuous improvement.

  • Proficiency in developing and implementing safety programs tailored to the specific needs and risks of the division, including policies, procedures, and training programs.

  • Knowledge and experience in developing emergency response plans and procedures, coordinating drills and exercises, and ensuring readiness for potential emergencies.

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and contractors.

  • MSHA Certification or background required.

  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) or Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) to ensure comprehensive safety practices.

  • Experience in conducting safety audits or inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.

  • Certification in First Aid/CPR, demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to safety incidents requiring immediate medical attention.

  • Proficiency in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations with regard to safety, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.

  • Familiarity with safety management software or systems, facilitating efficient management of safety programs and documentation.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to Climb up and down stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to traverse difficult terrain such as getting in and out of trenches/excavations and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)

  • Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds,

  • Driving to travel (valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.)
