The Buyer I is responsible for the analysis, negotiation, and procurement of goods and services for Materion. This includes developing and executing a sourcing strategy, supplier management, researching possible new suppliers, processing purchase orders, writing requests for proposals, analyzing quotes, and project managing new supplier qualifications.
You will have an opportunity to:
Purchase materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies for establishment
Negotiate and administers terms of supplier contracts within scope of designated authority in a legal and ethical manner
Develop and executes sourcing strategy with KPIs to manage cost, quality, schedule and risk. Establishes and manages relationships with suppliers
Research all aspects of subcontracting vendors with the Operations and Engineering team to ensure the best Commercial terms, savings and warranty
Ensure on-time delivery performance and quality from suppliers by expediting purchase orders, following up on back orders, and notifying operations of expected delivery dates
Research alternative suppliers and project manages new supplier qualifications and onboarding efforts
Review requisitions, purchase orders, and invoice issues for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures
Train other purchasing personnel at the entry level
Work closely with internal customers to clarify supplier related questions and issues
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree
5 years’ experience in procurement, contracts, finance, and/or similar industry management
Experience, education, and/or training in financial analysis and managing a budget
Experience with SAP preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience and/or training in negotiation
Possess excellent analytical and communication skills
Resourceful in finding ways to better leverage technology and software for supplier management
Competencies: result orientated, customer orientated, analytical, decision making, effective communication, teamwork and cooperation, relationship building, influencing of others
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
