SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:
Knowledge and demonstration of Agency Core Values in all day-to-day activities. Provides medical care to the Agency’s behavioral health programs. Duties are in keeping within scope of practice which include interviewing individuals to screen for medical problems, health monitoring, injections and education, along with coordinating referrals for follow-up with medical offices. Duties also include individual and group services regarding the relationship between health and behavioral health issues.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge and demonstration of agency core values in day-to-day activities
Demonstrates ability to effectively use technology and appropriate use of supports
Understands and follows agency policies, procedures and protocols
Performs general professional nursing duties including medical observation and gathering relevant medical data and history, injections, gathering and reviewing of labs and medical reports received, pharmacy questions, etc. Reviews with RN, psychiatrist/NP and pharmacy/lab as necessary and responds accordingly
Responds to all site medical crises including first aid, CPR, AED, etc.
Will be cross trained to work in all addiction and mental health clinics across Spectrum Health.
Completes appropriate and timely documentation
Collects data and provides evidence-based education based on individual needs
Responsible for maintaining syringe counts, medications and medical waste/waste pickup in accordance with agency policy
Collaborates with the nursing team, pharmacies and individuals to resolve medication issues
Assists individuals in making linkages and providing appropriate referrals
Travel to other sites within the agency to help with coverage will be expected as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Qualified to provide medical services such as conducting medical history review, obtaining basic vital signs and providing injectable medications to individuals
Skilled in providing education regarding medical/medication issues.
Skilled in use of Cerner Millennium
Demonstrated skill in relating to populations served with respect, accuracy and timeliness.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Educational qualifications must match regulatory requirements to perform medical services
Must be a licensed practical nurse
EXPERIENCE:
Experience must match regulatory requirements
Must have experience in providing medical services to individuals with behavioral health needs
Minimum one year experience preferred
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
COMPENSATION: $23.09/hr - $29.44/hr
