In this role, it will be critical for you to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable participating in compliance, interacting with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes. We're looking for people who have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.
What you get to do every single day
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Partake in various department-wide initiatives Requirements
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Experience with ERP systems
Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT
Earlier work involving Accounts Payable (AP)
Hands-on experience with Credit Card Reconciliation
Command of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT
Deep understanding of Raiser's Edge
Quality experience with non-profit accounting
Previous experience working with month end closings
Proven knowledge of Raiser's Edge
Raiser's Edge NXT experience
Well-founded grasp of Foundation Grants
Skills in account reconciliation
Practical knowledge of Grant Management
Wide ranging experience with Charities
Comprehension of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation
Experience with bank reconciliations
Good understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR)
Great Plains (GPAC) experience desired
General familiarity with grant accounting
Great attention to detail
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
