Pratt & Whitney is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Design Lead Engineer to join the Military Hardware Team within the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization, located in West Palm Beach, FL.
What You Will Do:
Lead production support efforts for military products, focusing on root cause investigations, corrective actions, and product/process improvements in collaboration with operations, quality, procurement, and engineering teams.
Develop Class II engineering change packages to enhance quality, cost, and producibility while incorporating Pro-Cert methodology and data-driven decision-making.
Drive initiatives to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality, eliminate repeat Quality Notifications (QNs), and improve producibility through lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Manage corrective action plans targeting QN and cost reductions, while identifying and addressing areas of waste in production support processes.
Oversee outsource technical quality and skill development, presenting updates and technical content to Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)/ESTO management, and Program stakeholders.
Travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally.
What You Will Learn:
Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for applicable part families and engine hardware and lead other team members.
Work with multidiscipline teams to address various production improvement opportunities.
Grow communication and leadership skills by driving QN workflow with outsourcing teams.
Opportunity for increased visibility within CIPTs by being the main point of contact for all QN activity.
Grow technical proficiency by supporting 502 and 701 task closure –goal to become CIPT Delegate Approver for applicable hardware part families.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8 years of prior engineering experience, or an Advanced degree in related field and 5 years prior engineering experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience working in the Aerospace Industry within the design and/or manufacturing environment.
Experience in MS Office, GD&T, SAP, Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis.
Understanding of hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods.

Department/Segment Overview : Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO ) provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, and work stops and enabling the producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first-piece reviews, first-article inspections, analysis automation, and process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
