Butler America Quality Engineer in West Lafayette, Indiana

Quality Engineer Location: West Lafayette, IN Job ID: #68887 Pay Range: $40-$50 an hour (w2 only) Seeking an Associate Quality Engineer, First Article Inspection (FAI) Coordinator to manage FAI’s and mediate root cause corrective actions. The FAI Coordinator is responsible for organizing the FAI tasks and priorities for the advanced manufacturing operation. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System principles and processes for this new site.

  • Determine FAI Schedule and scope and communicate with Production Management.

  • Plan and lead FAI review meetings and ensure necessary documentation and data availability.

  • Appoint and facilitate FAI review team on regular cadence.

  • Ensure compliance with all FAI documentation, verify Action Report documents have been accounted for and filled in correctly.

  • Review FAI recordings of non-conformance reports (NCR) identified during manufacturing and inspection and track all issues.

  • Ensure that change requests are written when necessary.

  • Ensure that root-cause corrective actions are registered and dispatched.

  • Complete, verify and sign the FAI Report (FAIR).

  • Initiate performance of Partial FAI.

  • Follow up on root-cause corrective actions and archive the FAI.

  • Train future team members in quality principles and systems.

  • Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.

  • All miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

    Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technology, or related field.

  • Technical degree or certification in the field of aviation is preferred but not required.

    0-3 years of qualified experience in aeronautics, automotive manufacturing, or related field.

  • Understanding of how FAI is a part of the overall Quality Management System.

  • Knowledge of AS9102 and internal requirements applicable for FAI is a plus.

  • Experience working with customer specific requirements, applicable for FAI.

  • Working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes and inspection methods.

  • Direct experience with Quality Management Systems, testing and inspection methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and team building experience.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to lead and drive change will be critical to the role
