Actalent Medical Technologist (Entry Level) in West Islip, New York
Skills & Qualifications:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of clinical tests; perform various biochemical, microscopic, blood bank and/or bacteriological tests to obtain data for use in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school
Licensed under the NYS Dept of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Knowledge of hematology, chemistry, blood ban, and/or microbiology required
Hospital experience desired
Must work weekends and holidays as scheduled
One year internship at an accredited hospital or one-year practical experience
Good oral and written communication skills essential.
B.S. in Medical Technology or equivalent education to meet NYS DOH technologist standards.
Laboratory Technologist License: ASCP preferred or NCA certification.
Clinical Lab Technologist candidates must have a bachelor's or higher degree in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences AND have completed acceptable training in a clinical laboratory, including supervised clinical experience in hematology, hemostasis, immunohematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis/body fluids, AND clinical microbiology
