Description
Apprentice Mechanic learns to performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment over a preset timeline.
Responsibilities:
Ability to learn to perform all functions below and to succeed into transitioning into a level C mechanic.
Preventative maintenance inspections on power unit and trailers
Lube, oil and filter on power units
Air brake component removal and installation
Routine electrical repairs
Tire removal and installation
Suspension component replacement I.E. airbags
Perform routine bolt on component replacement, i.e.: alternator, starter, a/c compressor, air compressor, torque arms but not limited to these items
Ability to run torches, plasma and some minor welding required 18
- Perform minor hydraulic repairs, i.e.: hose replacement and valve replacement
Able to perform wheel end replacement and diagnostics
Anti-lock brake component replacement
Must have or be in the process of having NYS Inspectors License
Must be able to pass a post-hire drug screen, background check and employment verification
