DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Having strong leadership skills, accountability, and the ability to remain positive is critical for this position, as you will lead a team of officers who are responsible for maintaining inmates' welfare, safety, and order. Supervisory duties will include ensuring your subordinate officers' work is carried out in compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. In addition to your supervisory duties, you will offer non-professional counseling of inmates, conduct daily tours of the inmate housing units and address any concerns, ensure that inmate transports out of or into the institution are properly processed, oversee the search of visitors; vehicles; materials; and supplies for contraband, and submit all transport and movement records and reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are to be determined. Selected applicant will work a 40-hour work week with rotating days off. Salary: Applicants who are new to the Commonwealth will start employment at $52,306 annually (before taxes). This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
