WATERTOWN POLICE Public-Environmental Health Specialist in WATERTOWN, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Public Health-Environmental Health Specialist ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST-HEALTH DEPARTMENT Are you passionate about protecting the health and wellness of your community? The City of Watertown has an Environmental Health Specialist opening in our Public Health Department. Applicants will be responsible for providing public health services, promoting policy development at organizational and community level to improve health, assuring communication on key public health and organizational issues, and promoting health equity and cultural competency. Candidates will work under administrative direction of the City of Watertown Health Officer/Director and/or the Environmental Health Supervisor and in conjunction with City and County Health Departments. This is a professional position whose duties include enforcement of health ordinances and perform inspections, consultations, and investigations associated with environmental health programs while applying environmental control measures to protect human health, safety, and welfare. This involves inspecting and licensing retail food, lodging, recreational water, schools, and other recreational facilities such as campgrounds and recreational education camps. Recreational water inspection may include beach water sampling. This position will also inspect and sample transient non-community well water systems in Jefferson and Dodge counties and analyze samples in department drinking water laboratories. Additional responsibilities include investigation and follow up of environmental health concerns such as radon, lead, animal control, hoarding and public nuisances, and solid waste issues that may impact the community\'s health. Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in environmental health or related field in preferred; Associate\'s degree with at least 3 years of experience considered. Registered Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist is required within 2 years. Additional certifications and training to perform duties of environmental health programs including food standard, lead certification, radon certification, certified food protection manager, and certified pool operator are preferred, but can be obtained as necessary to meet program needs. This full-time position has a salary beginning at \$62,878.40 DOQ with hours Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30 pm, occasional evening and weekend program attendance as needed.
