Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Job Summary This position assists surgical team before, during, and after surgery and applies principles of medical and surgical asepsis in the care of patients. Responsibilities include:
- Assembles equipment and supplies in OR and arranges instruments according to instructions.
- Maintains current instrument tray list and physician preference cards.
- Assists team members in placing and positioning patients.
- Counts sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Performs tasks as directed by surgeon during operations.
- Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of sterile items.
- Transports contaminated instruments from OR to decontamination room appropriately. Takes part in sterilization.
- Assists in daily preparation of rooms, room turnover, and cleaning duties.

Qualifications One year certification from college or technical school; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
