Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Job Summary This position will register and admit patients by obtaining relevant patient demographic and insurance information, adjusting patient status as appropriate, ensuring legally required forms are completed and alerting ER Triage nurse for ER visits. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate insurance pre-certification and verification process
  • Operate switchboard and direct patient, visitor and staff phone calls and questions to appropriate personnel
  • Update hospital on-call schedule daily
  • Verify and generate daily patient room changes
  • Coordinate all alarm monitors and code calls which include summoning appropriate response teams
  • Complete county letters and liens for applicable patient accounts
  • Work every other weekend

Qualifications High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or combination of education and experience Six months prior hospital/medical or general office experience required. Previous patient registration and computer experience desirable
