Emerson Senior Buyer and Planner in WATERLOO, Ontario
If you are a Senior Buyer and Planner professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson-Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elmira, ON location, reporting to the Planning and Materials Manager, you will support the Materials department and collaborate with suppliers, customer service and internal departments to meet delivery and production expectations, handle inventory levels, and provide sourcing, purchasing, procurement and price negotiations to support the needs of the business.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
Monitor and run assigned suppliers through sourcing, planning, ordering and expediting purchased goods for best total cost and required quality.
Support production schedules through supplier negotiation, metrics and development for improved service, quality and cost performance. Assist peers with same as required.
Locate, onboard and develop new suppliers using audits, competitive bids and detailed total cost evaluation, keeping the business needs as highest priority.
Actively pursue cost savings through driven quoting, source changes, material alternatives, and packaging, freight, or term considerations.
Resolve and implement planning parameters to lead inventory and support production requirements for assigned components. Recognize and recommend disposition for obsolete or slow-moving inventory.
Lead or participate in problem resolution and development of service improvements using root cause and counter measure processes. Recognize and relentlessly pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
Establish, implement and maintain supplier performance metrics and regular reporting.
Fully cross train to maintain departmental efficiency during peer absences, including the Planning and Materials Manager.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
Diploma in SCM, Purchasing, Business, or Operations Management or related subject area.
2+ years current experience at a senior level
Must be familiar with industrial manufacturing processes.
Excellent knowledge of ERP systems, vendor management and negotiations.
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel (including V-Lookup and pivot tables),
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively to people both internally and externally (i.e. employees, management, suppliers, peers)
Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate one’s own work
Ability to cope with multiple demands: flexibility and ability to multi-task, change priorities based on rush orders, time constraints, and frequent interruptions.
Legal authorization to work in Canada – sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
10+ years combined experienced of procuring raw material, casting, electrical/electronics, electro-mechanical components, purchasing and/or materials planning in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with castings and machining processes is a PLUS
Experience with Oracle system.
Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) or Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM)
Experience with Kanban delivery systems and their set up.
Experience in the electrical industry an asset.
Familiar with re-order point inventory management systems and processes.
Outstanding capability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, drawings, and government regulations.
Ability to work occasional extended and/or flexible working hours.
