Universal Health Services MANAGER - RISK MANAGEMENT- DAY SHIFT (FULL TIME) in WASHINGTON, United States

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

This position has broad responsibilities in coordinating Risk Management activities for GW Hospital. The position serves as a key resource to hospital and medical staff and assists in the assessment and implementation of hospital practices to improve safety and promote high quality care. Performs evaluation of adverse events, works with assigned legal counsel and assists with the production of information for discovery, including polices, copies of medical records, and case-related documents. Assists with educational programs and risk mitigation to prevent financial loss from claims, while functioning in a manner consistent with the hospital mission, vision, and values.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Qualification

Bachelor's Degree required, BSN preferred

MS in nursing or Masters degree in related field preferred

5 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background

Skills

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Effective interpersonal skills

Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information

Possesses critical thinking skills

Possesses ability to identify and analyze problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Possess knowledge of risk identification and prevention techniques.

Effective administrative and management skills.

Proficient with Root Cause Analysis methodology

Knowledge of healthcare facility operations, functions, and staffing requirements.

Knowledge of medical/professional staff by-laws and governing board issues.

Knowledge of insurance and loss control theory and practice in a healthcare environment

Knowledge and understanding of the principles and procedures for the investigation and processing of professional liability/ medical malpractice claims
