Planet Technologies Technical Program Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Planet Technologies is looking for a highly motivated senior manager with excellent technical and leadership skills to manage, plan and execute large-scale technology projects and programs. The position requires the individual to serve as the point of contact and manager of the activities needed to establish and manage multiple programs. In this role you will be setting the strategic technical direction for a project and program then ensuring the success of the deliverables. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to effectively communicate complex technical matters to upper management, as well as users of all levels. The individual must also be able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize items as needed. Top-Secret clearance and three days per week of on-site work in DC will be critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Define multiple project plans and timelines to support broader program initiatives in a complex Federal environment.

  • Managing your programs to their individual and broader budget and managingfor success against outstanding goals; hiring decisions and financial impact,

  • Manage staffing which includes hiring and assessing appropriate coverage for various projects as the mature or change.

  • Balance multiple projects each with significantly sized teams while keeping project milestones both technical and financial on track.

  • Evangelize and execute agile processes and methodology.

  • Identify and provide solutions to mitigate constraints and risks in the development process.

  • Coach team members on project management processes and best practices.

  • Facilitate senior leaders and cross functional teams to make decisions and achieve program objectives.

  • Provide leadership within the team, with clients and Planet leadership leading to informed decisions regarding project and client road maps to ensure and propagate long term success.

Skills Required

  • Previous experience managing and directing Agency scale technical efforts to modernize and improve internal systems.

  • Exceptionally effective communication skills across a broad range of audiences and previous experience influencing and executing complex decisions in a dynamic environment.

  • The ability to assess and negotiate financial, technical, and practical challenges as they arise and understand when to escalate issues internally and with clients.

  • Technical expertise in Cloud technologies, Microsoft tools, migration, automation and Agile software development methods, operations and/or Engineering.

  • Experience taking complex concepts and presenting to large groups with varying expertise.

  • Knowledge of SharePoint capabilities (SP 2013, 2016, and SharePoint Online)

Essentials

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years’ experience leading large, complex Federal Programs and specific Technical background working with Microsoft Cloud products.

  • Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

  • Location: Must be able to work in Washington, DC at least 3 days per week

  • Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance is required
