DCG Communications Social Media Specialist - Federal PR in Washington, District Of Columbia

DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a social media specialist to play a pivotal role in enhancing transparency, public engagement, and communication effectiveness through digital platforms for our DHS client.  This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills to successfully manage and optimize social media efforts for the agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging and informative content for social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) that aligns with agency goals, initiatives, and key messages.

  • Community Engagement: Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, messages, and inquiries from the public in a timely and professional manner. Foster positive interactions and address concerns or issues effectively.

  • Campaign Management: Plan and execute social media campaigns to promote agency programs, events, and initiatives. Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies to optimize engagement and reach.

  • Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of social media strategies and tactics that support broader communication and outreach objectives of the agency.

  • Analytics and Reporting: Utilize social media analytics tools to track and analyze performance metrics. Prepare regular reports on key metrics such as reach, engagement, and audience demographics. Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve performance.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including communications, public affairs, and program offices, to coordinate social media efforts and ensure consistent messaging and branding.

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Adhere to federal regulations, agency policies, and best practices related to social media use. Manage potential risks associated with social media communications and ensure compliance with records management and accessibility requirements.

  • Monitoring Trends: Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in social media and digital communications. Recommend innovative approaches to enhance the agency’s social media presence and effectiveness.

    Qualifications:

  • Strong Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and accurate content suitable for various social media platforms.

  • Social Media Expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience using social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) for professional or organizational purposes. Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development of social media strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing social media metrics and using data-driven insights to optimize performance and inform decision-making.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Team Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively in a team environment and building relationships across different departments or offices.

  • Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field is required. Previous experience in social media management, digital communications, or public affairs within a governmental or public sector context is highly preferred.
