Job Description: Senior Accountant

Location: Washington, DC

My client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting, this role will support critical accounting processes, execute month-end close procedures, and contribute to financial reporting efforts. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-growth, dynamic environment within a global leader in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare day-to-day and month-end close entries for cash, restricted cash, investments, accrued liabilities, prepaid insurance, and intercompany transactions.

  • Support the preparation and analytics of monthly intercompany billing activities.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for various bank accounts, including operating, investment, and project financing accounts.

  • Prepare detailed account reconciliations for assigned areas, such as prepaid and liability accounts.

  • Assist with variance analysis of assigned accounts during monthly close meetings and ensure accounting close deadlines are met.

  • Respond to auditor requests during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.

  • Support foreign statutory financial reporting requirements and tax compliance by preparing supporting schedules and reports.

  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures for workpapers and areas of responsibility.

  • Collaborate closely with the Internal Controls team to establish and maintain strong internal controls.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the SAP S4 HANA ERP system to optimize accounting processes.

  • Perform additional duties as required.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or active CPA candidate preferred.

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in audit or corporate accounting (a mix of Big 4 and industry experience is a plus).

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and general understanding of internal controls.

  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities efficiently.

  • Superior attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently under strict deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with SAP S4 HANA ERP system is a plus.
