New York University Part-Time Lecturer: Research Seminar in Washington, District Of Columbia

NYU’s Washington, DC Academic Center is seeking a local, part-time lecturer to teach an undergraduate course, “Research Seminar.” The course will be under the sponsorship of XXXXXXX.

The course is expected for Fall 2025 (late August to early December). The class meeting pattern for this 2 credit course will be discussed with qualified applicants during the interview process. In addition to the time required for course preparation, classroom instruction, and assessment, the instructor is required to hold a minimum of one set 60-minute office hour per instruction day, during which the instructor will be available to meet with students. The instructor must be prepared to deliver course content remotely if conditions do not allow in-person instruction.

The instructor role includes all preparation, delivery, and grading. Courses are to be intellectually challenging in content, and rigorous student assessment is required. Course Description

This course gives undergraduate students an opportunity to engage in an individualized, independent research project while studying away at the Washington, DC site. The course is open to students of all disciplines, who will craft a project with input from their peers and with one-on-one instruction from the faculty member. Students in the course will learn about the research process, research tools, and communication tools and methods; engage in peer review; and identify their academic and/or professional interests more precisely.

All part-time instructors are expected to have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in the area of their teaching. Qualified applicants will ideally have 2-3 years of experience teaching at the university level. In some instances, significant professional expertise and experience in a relevant field may be suitable. The salary will be based on equivalent and appropriate part-time faculty rates for the course and location.
