WSP USA Junior Technical Editor in Washington, District Of Columbia

This Opportunity

WSP seeks a full-time Junior Technical Editor , located near any WSP office . This position will provide editorial services nationally as part of our Visualization & Data Intelligence team, a growing national specialty practice focused on advancing and enhancing the quality of all WSP deliverables. This position is responsible for providing technical editing with our Editorial Services group to deliver publication-quality documents. Our successful candidate will have experience working as a copyeditor in a professional capacity and will relish the opportunity to expand that experience by applying those skills across the broad range of market sectors that WSP serves.

Your Impact

  • Provide editorial support to technical/engineering/professional services for a large variety of technical deliverables.

  • Edit and proof technical documentation, and produce final documents.

  • Ensure that outgoing documents have correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistent project terminology, correctly cited references, and clear, concise language.

  • Adhere to quality control plans for document deliverables.

  • Work with a variety of technical staff and project teams to determine the best approach for specific projects and schedules.

  • Adhere to schedules and budgets and meet tight deadlines.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • Five years' experience editing in a professional or academic capacity

  • Proficient in MS Office software; intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word

  • Knowledgeable in Chicago Manual of Style and other industry-recognized guidelines

  • Ability to read/understand highly technical documents and the English language

  • Ability to communicate effectively and congenially with project teams in a wide variety of fields

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Highly proficient at managing time and able to be nimble in the face of shifting project schedules

  • Able to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (English, journalism, communications, linguistics) or professional editing certificate

  • Experience as technical copyeditor in the fields of engineering, sciences, environmental consulting, or government regulatory documents

  • Advanced MS Word skills, especially in the use of styles/templates

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

  • Proficiency in SharePoint

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $65,000 to $85,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $65,000 to $80,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
