Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Information Systems Security Officer join our team in the Washington, D.C. This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for SED implements higher-level security requirements such as those resulting from laws, regulations, or Presidential directives.

  • Integrate security design principles across disciplines and the Department of Homeland Security Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).

  • Discover information protection needs and document information protection policies.

  • Review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.

  • Support security related product selection and implementation activities.

  • Define the scope and level of detail for security plans and policies applicable to the system.

  • Recommend measures to ensure security awareness and compliance.

  • Identify the need for changes based on new security technologies or threats.

  • Analyze change requests to the system for security posture impact.

  • Review and evaluate security incident response policies and manage security incident procedures.

  • Support execution of duties described in the DHS ISSO Guide and DHS Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Guide.

  • Develop and implement long-range plans for IT security systems to anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities. Manage and maintain system authorization status (Authority to Operate).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of position-specific relevant experience.

  • Master's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, software, or related discipline.

  • CompTIA Security+ certification.

  • Knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols or encryption techniques/tools.

  • Must be familiar with NIST and CMS security documentation, including but not limited to NIST 800-53, NIST 800-63, CMS Acceptable Risk Safeguards (ARS), CMS Risk Management Handbook (RMH) and CMS Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Controls Tracking System (CFACTS).

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS suitability.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
