POSITION SUMMARY

Support the promotion and expansion of the U.S.-Africa trade and investment relationship through excellence in operational management as part of the U.S.-Africa Business Center team. Advance the commercial partnership and support the Center’s advocacy efforts through member engagement, policy dialogues, regulatory submissions, educational reports, and strategic communications. Liaise with internal stakeholders and a wide range of companies, government agencies, and business associations across Africa and in the U.S.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Contribute to the Shared Purpose success of a small, dedicated team focused on delivering on its mission to increase trade and investment between the U.S. and the nations of Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the logistics for events and meetings, including engagement with member company executives, U.S. government officials, and foreign officials.

  • Provide meetings assistance and calendar support for the president of the U.S.-Africa Business Center.

  • Help with trade missions, communications, and research.

  • Prepare executive correspondence and briefing materials.

  • Support budget preparation, tracking, and financial management.

  • Maintain updated CRM database information.

  • Manage consultant contracts, fellowship recruitment, and the internship program.

  • Support timely website content management.

  • Research potential prospects and maintain prospecting materials.

  • Respond to member inquiries.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS):

  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, economics, business, management, or related field.

  • 3+ years’ relevant experience, ideally dealing with international economic and African business issues.

  • Exceptional administrative, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external organizations and interact effectively with senior corporate executives.

  • Demonstrated success working as a team player in a fast-paced hybrid environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Virtual Meeting platforms, Swoogo, and Salesforce (e.g., Marketing Cloud and CRM).

  • Experience developing and managing budgets and resources.

  • Flexibility for occasional travel.

  • Foreign language skills (e.g., Arabic, French, Portuguese) and cultural competency working with African stakeholders is preferred.
