The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) focuses on providing the tools, technologies, and knowledge products for the nation’s Homeland Security Enterprise. S&T strives to enable effective, efficient, and secure operations across all homeland security missions by applying scientific, engineering, analytics, and innovative approaches to deliver timely solutions in support of DHS's mission.

 

What you’ll do:

 

The Network/Security SME will require extensive experience supporting and designing LAN and WAN networks both supporting geographically dispersed on premise and cloud-based datacenters. 

This person will have experience working in a project design and engineering role and have expertise in the migration and integration of business services areas while maintaining business continuity.  

This person will be responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, and assisting in the support of network, network security infrastructure, and related application components. 

 

 

Some of the services you will provide will include the following:

 

Possible Zscaler Licenses acquired:

  • Zscaler for Users (a unified SSE)  

  • Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) 

  • Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) 

  • Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX) 

  • Zscaler for Workloads (focusing on CNAPP) 

  • Zscaler for OT and IoT 

     

     

    Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of LAN and WAN networks. 

  • Designing, deploying, and supporting Zscaler products across various on premise and cloud-based datacenters and DR environments 

  • Implementing, configuring, assist in managing a new Zscaler environment to either replace and, or complement existing network solutions. 

  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives. 

  • Work with internal applications teams and design and implement appropriate network solutions. 

  • Coordinating activities with other system areas and vendors, and deals with network security systems planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. 

  • Identifying, creating, and assisting with the migration of business logic and security policies in coordination with various application owners and stakeholders. 

  • Show an understanding of enterprise security level traffic management facilitating standard and custom application-based traffic and accordingly design solutions incorporating existing Firewall and Proxy services. 

  • Supporting Whitelisting IP space for various Project teams and external vendors to ensure safe and secure access connectivity.

  • F5 Big IP load Balancers 

  • Blue Coat Proxy 

  • Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Wireless Devices

  • AWS or Azure Infrastructure

  • Okta
