City of Warwick Sanitation/Recycling Operator in Warwick, Rhode Island
Primary purpose of job is to drive a garbage or recycling truck to pick up residential household waste and recyclable material from houses and condominiums. Duties include: Operates garbage and recycling trucks. Picks up garbage and recycling material from City residences. Transports personnel to job and hauls garbage and recyclable material to State landfill or other designated areas. Keeps daily log on vehicles and performs light maintenance on same, such as daily greasing. Performs a variety of related semi-skilled and unskilled tasks. May be assigned to perform other duties in other divisions of the Public Works Department or other City departments. Must possess a valid Rhode Island State Commercial Drivers License. Must be able to pass a driving/sanitation test as devised by the Department. Performs related work as required. Education and Experience: Such as may have been gained through completion of eight school grades, with six months of related work experience/training with experience operating motor equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirement: Must possess a Valid State of Rhode Island Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A or Class B with Airbrake Endorsement at time of Written Test. Drivers License check for the last two years will be performed and a criminal background check. Negative findings may prevent applicants from being considered.
