About the opportunity:

The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site, the plant will play a vital role in Sellafield’s 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the sites original waste plants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by Sellafield Ltd’s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Alongside that work, the plant will also receive certain wastes from the other three legacy waste stores, the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and Pile Fuel Cladding Silo.

We are looking for a Deputy Quality Manager to join our team in Birchwood Park.

You will support and deputise for the Project Quality Manager in adopting a pragmatic approach to assurance of Quality on all phases of the Project.

Some of your duties:

  • To ensure that Quality Assurance all areas of the BEP project are compliant with the relevant legal requirements, Sellafield Ltd standards, European and British Standards, non-European standards and project procedures. ·

  • Promotion of continuous improvement and capture of LFE across the project

  • Ensure the quality standards of BEPDT project and the client are consistently met

  • Carry out quality assessments in the supply chain and ensure sub-contractor quality management systems satisfy the requirements of the Project

  • Ensure all quality resource on delivery teams comply with all quality management processes and procedures

  • Ensure the right people, with right skills at the right time are recruited to optimise overall project performance considering both technical and behavioural competence

  • Assign roles and responsibilities for all quality personnel aligned to the wider project organisation

  • Ensure the schedule is adequately resourced and demands are clearly understood with a plan in place to provide suitable resource at the right time

  • Alignment and delegation of quality activities across the project to ensure that all areas work together to achieve project objectives

  • Preparation, implementation and maintenance of the Project Quality Management System (IMS)

  • Conduct audits of the Joint Venture site activities and sub-contractor operations, both on and off site, in accordance with the Project Audit Schedule

  • Provision and trend analysis of audit findings

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Member of CQI (Chartered)

  • Lead Auditing Qualification

  • Previous relevant experience in Nuclear sector
