Waltonen Mechanical Engineer in Warren, Michigan
Waltonen Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities
Conduct engineering analysis and provide support for military vehicles, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
Prepare detailed plans with drawings that include project specifications, timelines, and resource requirements.
Design and execute engineering solutions to create workable and innovative solutions for complex problems.
Develop comprehensive engineering calculations, diagrams, and technical reports to support project objectives.
Complete all required technical and regulatory documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Present analysis results and project solutions to technical leads, senior leaders, and customers as necessary, providing clear and concise explanations.
Work closely with customer engineers and designers/detailers to achieve a cohesive and completed design.
Ensure timely completion of projects by managing resources effectively and adhering to project schedules.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
At least 1-2 years of related work experience in mechanical engineering or a similar role.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including the ability to create and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.
Advanced skills in critical software applications, such as CAD and Microsoft Office, to support engineering tasks and documentation.
Expertise in data and problem analysis, creative problem solving, and design thinking to develop innovative solutions.
Strong understanding of vehicle design processes and engineering principles.
Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines and support team efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in vehicle component and/or systems engineering, with a focus on performance and reliability.
Experience with vehicle suspension systems or test equipment, including hands-on testing and analysis.
Dynamometer experience, including setup, operation, and data interpretation.
Proficiency with engineering software such as Creo to support design and analysis tasks.
Experience working with defense or military vehicles, understanding their unique requirements and challenges.
