Work Arrangement
Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.
The Role
We are seeking a Laboratory Safety and Fabrication Engineer to join our Advanced Development organization within the Autonomous Robotics Center. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, enforcing, and maintaining GM safety best practices and requirements. You will complete G-Comply processes, establish/complete maintenance cadence procedures, enforce laboratory safety requirements, and identify/create training courses and documentation to ensure a safe operating environment for all team members and visitors. Additionally, you will facilitate the fabrication and testing of new technologies and help maintain equipment and laboratory space for the ARC organization.
Joining our Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, contribute to innovation, and collaborate with a diverse team of experts. You will play a key role in advancing our automation capabilities and ensuring that our mechanical systems are at the forefront of the industry.
What You’ll Do:
Identify safety requirements and best practices for GM laboratory spaces.
Implement safety protocols to ensure a safe operating environment for all ARC developments.
Complete the G-Comply processes, create TIS/SOP documentation, and maintain a safe working environment for fabrication and testing of new technologies.
Work with engineers and team members to identify testing/fabrication needs, outline and document safe testing/fabrication processes, and physically support testing/fabrication efforts.
Provide guidance and support to other teams within the Robotics Engineering organization.
Work closely with the technicians to align prototype build activities with project timing and requirements.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
5+ years of professional experience working with industry standards and regulations such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and ISO safety guidelines.
Ability to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to minimize workplace accidents.
Proven ability to train employees, write safety reports, and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
Experience operating fabrication equipment in a laboratory environment.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational safety, or a related field.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience with mechanical systems for automation or robotics applications.
Familiarity with General Motors safety requirements and procedures.
Knowledge of safety buy-off processes for mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
Previous experience in advanced development or R&D environments.
