Tri-County Health Care Facilities Technician in Wadena, Minnesota

Astera Health currently has a Full-Time Facilities Technician opening. The primary function of this role is to provide maintenance and engineering necessary for the care of Astera Health's facilities. This team works together to provide a safe, pleasant, and comfortable physical environment for patients, employees, medical staff, visitors, and the general public.

Schedule/Hours Available:

  • Full-Time: 40hours per week, Monday-Friday day shift with evening and weekend on-call rotation every 4th week. On call status requires a maximum 30-minute call back window. Astera Health will offer an on-site accommodation if needed.

Some responsibilities of the Facilities Technician include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining transmission of light, heat service utilities, and power sources to provide uninterrupted service.

  • Assisting the Facilities Manager in providing technical advice and assistance concerning improvements of hospital plant and grounds.

  • Maintaining exterior surfaces; such as sidewalks, parking lots and all of Astera Health’s grounds.

  • Operating, monitoring, and maintaining boilers, pumps and other boiler room equipment.

  • Operating, monitoring, and repairing all electrical systems and ancillary equipment, including refrigeration, air handling, motors and wiring for comfort under supervision of the electrician, food preservation and fire protection.

  • Maintaining of buildings, grounds, and equipment including the functions of carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, air conditioning, gardening, furniture repair, plastering, masonry, welding, and many others to keep up appearance and function of its useful life.

  • Education and experience required:

  • Furthered education within related facilities management field (i.e. technical college, stationary steam engineering class and plant and building maintenance)

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in building maintenance and/or operation of plant.

  • Second Class C Boilers License or Special Engineer with ability to obtain 2C within 1 year

  • Electrical Maintenance License or higher by MN State Board of Electricity or able to obtain the license within 6 months

  • Valid drivers license

  • Proficient in general building maintenance including: operating power tools, basic skills in electricity, mechanics, heat/cooling systems, plumbing, carpentry, blue print reading, and programmable logic controller operations

  • Or; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.
