Unlimited potential at one of the leading health systems in the midwestern United States Job Description: The Enterprise Data Governance Consultant is a key player in the data citizenship and governance initiative to promote and manage data as an asset, in partnership with enterprise-wide leaders. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an organizational data governance strategy, framework, and implementation plan for data policies, standards and practices to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs. This position serves as a curator of the data governance platform for governance, data ownership, data quality and access and protection issues and will work closely with business, operational, clinical and other key functional area leadership to improve quality and value of core data assets as well as support the strategic requirements of Bellin Gundersen. This person will facilitate the development of data governance standards and processes and put these standards and processes into action through the facilitation of metric stewards, data stewards, data analysts, and other key stakeholders. This position requires project management skills (project management, process improvement, change management and communication) and an individual who is detailed, results-oriented, and able to work independently while still collaborating with multiple stakeholder groups. Responsible for Establishing a Data Governance Program Strategy, Operating Framework and Roadmap Makes sure all the process mechanisms that support data governance are functioning properly so data integrity issues can be found, raised, prioritized, and resolved Facilitates the development of standards and processes for metric and data element integrity, standardization, and transparency, leveraging data analysts and data/metric stewards in this work Create and deliver a data governance training program tailored to data and analytics partner teams to set a foundation of what is data governa ce at Bellin Gundersen and how we achieve best practice data governance processes Ensures and facilitate standardization, consistency and commonality for the data definitions, attributes, metrics and assets Facilitates data quality issue resolution Pulls together ad-hoc groups to resolve specific data integrity issues Coordinates the work of data stewards and data analysts to do all of the above Partners with IT to ensure the necessary data governance supporting tools are in place and meeting the need Helps data stewards and the data management team populate, automate, and maintain metadata (information about data tables and columns as well as metrics, reports, dashboards, etc.) to make the metadata easier to navigate and to facilitate good data governance Support data literacy efforts through development and delivery of data citizenship and governance training materials Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience At least 7 years' experience in technology or related field Strong understanding of data governance concepts, processes, policies, and frameworks Experience with data quality principles and methodologies, data profiling, data lineage, metric traceability, etc. Strong understanding of data management and architecture methodologies Experience in structured query language (sql) Business Intelligence tools a plus Preferred Experience Knowledge of data security and access policies and practices Experience in executing data governance or stewardship programs Experience in a customer face role (internal or external) Experience using data governance technologies or product suites At least 3 years' experience working with healthcare data in a health insurance or healthcare provider setting, preferably a healthcare provider setting Skills and Key Characteristics Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills Excellent "self-management" skills (time and task management, self-starter) Enthusiasm, humility, and a desire to learn Demonstrable skills in managing projects and problem resolution in a healthcare related organization Possesses a "systems thinking" approach with the ability to learn, adapt, and react to a changing organizational environment Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously A level of data acumen to be able to understand data integrity issues and facilitate their resolution Strong skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power Point and Visio) If you need assistance with any portion of the application or have questions about the position, please contact or call 608-775-0267 Equal Opportunity Employer EEO/AA/Veterans/Disabilities
