About the Team
This role is an integral part of AIG’s Marine team in Australia and reports to the Head of Marine, Australia. AIG Marine is a global market leader in its field and unique in having marine underwriting and claims teams in almost all the countries AIG trades in.
About the role
The Underwriting Associate, Marine role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to advance their insurance career and learn from others with significant industry experience. This role contributes meaningfully to the delivery of our Value Proposition by supporting the Marine Underwriters in meeting the expectations of our distribution partner and clients.
What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
Provide general underwriting and administrative support to the Marine Underwriters including but not limited to preparation of booking worksheets, underwriting research, database management, oversight of delivery of multi-national programs, underwriting file management with due regard for audit and compliance standards.
Act as a liaison between the Marine Underwriters, Operations and Shared Service teams with regards to the tasks performed in Shared Services. This will involve managing escalations, feedback and requests.
Act as a liaison between the Marine Underwriters and the Claims teams as required.
Be the key contact person between the Marine Underwriters, Operations and the Shared Service teams. This will involve being the escalation point for resolution of process queries, policy-specific queries as part of BAU activities i.e. bookings, unallocated cash etc.
Serve as 1st point of escalation for the resolution of procedural conflict or process clarification for Shared Services and other CPS Australasian teams.
What we’re looking for:
An insurance background (underwriting/claims/administration)
Freight forwarding / Logistics experience beneficial
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent Computer Skills, with intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong communication skills; Demonstrate effective communication with stakeholders including senior leaders, peers and other staff
Analytical & Problem solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to work well with others as well as work autonomously when required
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Flexible and adaptable
