The Building People Sr. & Jr. IoT Building Technology Engineer in United States
The Senior and Junior IoT Building Technology Engineer will provide technical services related to the deployment of smart building infrastructure, specially sensor technologies including: occupancy, air quality, energy related metering, leak detection etc. We are hiring up three (3) candidates for this team, team reporting structure and junior/senior roles will based on their years of experience and capabilities. The ideal candidates will either be leading or supporting the technical design, deployment planning, backend system integration of the smart sensor technology on federal facilities. The engineers assigned to this role will be the technical subject matter experts supporting the project leadership, and responsible for all technical aspects (including troubleshooting) for the technology deployment. These positions are envisioned to be remote, but travel may be required to sites in the continental United States – especially at the technology installation phase. Relevant experience managing and installing IoT smart buildings technology is required for this role, especially incorporating, and mitigating cyber security requirements. The engineers for this role will be required to ensure the site installation team are prepared and set up for success to deliver various sensor technologies onsite.
Required Experience & Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and GSuite or related software
Programming skills
Strong interactive and communication skills
Experience with IT infrastructure, automatic data processing, electronics, and basic electrical circuits
Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others
Design and engineer control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents
Ability to program projects with various levels of complexity
Capable of performing network troubleshooting, database troubleshooting and repair programming
Develops system configuration, network and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations
Develop and configure the sequence of operations, programming, graphics, database, network, and integrations into third party systems
Maintains accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines
Provides owner training as required by the project
Executes system commissioning and functional testing
Assist in installation of control hardware
Startup and commission new hardware installations
Provide project management assistance on projects as required, interfacing directly to customers
Supervise sub-contractors and suppliers as needed
Help educate lower-level technicians through on the job training as needed
Experience with native BACnet MS/TP, BACnet TCP/IP architecture and compliance accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 135-2010.
Candidates will have at least five (5) years of experience with building technologies, and at least two (2) yeas of experience with IoT smart sensor technology installation and startup, specific to the technologies described above (occupancy, air quality, energy related metering, leak detection etc.)
Preferred Experience & Skills
Experience working with the skills discussed above in a federal facility context
Niagara N4 certification
Technical knowledge with installation of controls equipment and ancillary devices
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical field
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
