GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Corrections Women's Center is seeking a Senior Skilled Trades Specialist to oversee general maintenance and construction projects performed by both WWC maintenance and outside contractors. Wyoming Women’s Center was established in 1981. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for female inmates and provides programming, vocational, recreational, and educational programs to allow the WDOC to reduce recidivism through cognitive and behavioral intervention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
Inspects, analyzes, diagnoses, and plans all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, structural, and maintenance activities for all buildings and systems continuously.
Manages and supervises all skilled building and maintenance trades positions.
Assigns daily work to appropriate trades staff, performs daily building, grounds, and equipment inspections, and manages daily cleaning of assigned buildings.
Completes follow-up and tracks work order progress with subordinates.
Performs plans and implements major maintenance and capital construction projects and upgrades to all mechanical, plumbing, heating, electrical systems and controls, and landscaping or target systems.
Meets with general contractors, architects, and engineers to determine the most effective and efficient products and procedures for the safety, durability, and necessary uses of new buildings and infrastructures.
Design office layouts for building modifications.
Reviews and creates policies and procedures.
Authorizes all purchases conducted by the maintenance department.
Manages a range of inventories, tools, and supplies.
Creates long-term maintenance planning for all ranges and courses to include all electronic and mechanical target systems.
Plans, schedules, and writes specifications for range and maintenance upgrades.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate's Degree, plus one (1) year of work experience, typically in AutoCAD, drafting, or engineering.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, domestic water distribution, and sewer.
Knowledge of building planning, construction, and supervision of projects.
Knowledge of structural and mechanical techniques used in the construction of buildings.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance and utility distribution, repair, and emergency response.
Knowledge of federal, state, and agency purchasing and property control procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Management)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Specialist
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Specialist

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Climbing on an occasional to regular basis
Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularly
Walking on cement floors regularly
