Job Description

The Research Technician I, under general supervision performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. *This position may become fulltime based upon funding availability.

Responsibilities:

-Sample collection , management, and laboratory analyses of plant/soil/water samples from agricultural fields

-Processing plant, soil and water samples for physical and biological testing

-Laboratory organization and purchasing

  • B iological analysis of microbial pathogens from soil/water

-O peration and analysis of greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural soil

-Valuation of biotoxicity from soil and water samples

-M aintain a database in MS Excel and other software for analysis results and data analysis

-Compose technical reports, contribute to manuscripts, and present results at scientific meetings

-P osition may supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and manage biosafety and chemical safety in the lab

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:-High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Two years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

MS or BS in chemistry, soil science, agriculture, biology, animal science, environmental science or other relevant disciplines is high preferred Experience with research and publication in one or more of the following research areas is a plus: agricultural waste management, soil and water quality, soil health, greenhouse gas analysis, carbon sequestration, advanced chemistry, biochar technology, and microbial analysis. Statistical analysis of experimental data.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Successful candidates will have multiple skills, including collection, management, and chemical/biological analysis of soil, water, and plant sampling, greenhouse gas analysis, analytical chemistry, and data analysis. Excellent written and oral communication skills for effective interpersonal discussions with the supervisor and other colleagues. High level of work ethic and collaboration capacities. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
