Qualifications

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field.

Preferred Education:

  • B.S. in Biochemistry

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.

  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

  • Good interpersonal skills, professionalism and competency.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on pharmacokinetics and toxicity studies, in vitro-in vivo correlations, animal models of pathology, cell cultures.

  • Works closely with lab leadership and project managers to properly prepare for and execute assigned pharmacology studies. Be responsible for the physical environment for a group of assigned laboratory animals.

  • Perform routine animal husbandry: cage changing, health monitoring, food/water, breeding. Perform all tasks in accordance to established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Training staff and students in animal procedures.

  • Generate and display the results and interpret their implications.

  • Communicate with Pl and supervisor(s), collaborators within as well as outside TAMU to ensure alignment of expectations within project objectives as well lead, influence, and enlist support to other lab members.

  • Collect tissue, perform necropsies, process and analyze samples, phenotype animals, and perform injections of experimental compounds in various animal models.

  • Conduct literature searches and reviews and continue to update knowledge and develop skills.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
