THE TEAM

Enterprise Architecture owns the high-level architecture of Ticketmaster’s technology landscape, driving an overall vision and technical choices. We collaborate closely with teams across the business, ensuring they can relate their work to our long-term strategic goals.

THE JOB

The Ticketmaster platforms and services enable fans around the world to access tickets and events 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Every large event on-sale and entry is a Black Friday for us. Working at this scale ensures that even the most innovative person will be consistently challenged and presented with opportunities.

As Principal Architect, you will perform an essential role within Ticketmaster’s Enterprise Architecture team, setting direction and approach in how we design, build, and evolve a scalable and maintainable portfolio of solutions. You will promote consistent architectural best practices, ensuring teams can meet and adapt to the challenges and objectives faced by Ticketmaster.

A Principal Architect is expected to define and contribute toward wider Enterprise Architecture initiatives, provide guidance, and highlight changes required through the development lifecycle. You are expected to stay relevant in technology and be responsible for the direction given at all stages.

You will build a strong network with peers and subject matter experts to guide and support an ongoing, holistic Technology and Product strategy aligned with Business goals. You will work and negotiate with delivery teams to ensure solutions provide value and work flexibly within constraints imposed by time, budget, interoperability, feature, and technology maturity.

As a global company travel will be required on an as-needed basis.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Leading technical, cross-functional assessments for new and ongoing initiatives and programs of work.

  • Understanding the details behind solutions and effectively communicating to stakeholders and third parties.

  • Assisting the business in understanding technology/alignment opportunities and risks, presenting possible solutions for achieving or mitigating them.

  • Identifying dependency chains and efficiency gains in strategic plans.

  • Defining clear domain boundaries and responsibilities, considering impact and demands on the organizational structure.

  • Ratifying new business cases, sizing/prioritization of initiatives and resourcing of work into the technical organization.

  • Supporting investment prioritization of technical roadmap items and capabilities.

  • Tracking and advocating best reuse of technology at a global level, identifying opportunities for practical consolidation.

  • Providing guidance on embedding acquired technology into the Ticketmaster landscape, advising on the optimal balance between migration, consolidation, continuation, and reuse.

  • Raising the bar on software quality - reliability, security, performance, usability - through development and advocacy of architectural best practices.

  • Defining the alignment of architecture within the overall SDLC process.

  • Authoring technical articles or white papers based on experience to advocate our use of practices, technology, and skills.

  • Staying current in the technology landscape, disseminating information, and identifying practical applications of emerging technologies and approaches.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • A solid understanding of the principles, practices and techniques of Enterprise Architecture and Domain Driven Design.

  • Proven experience with a broad base of architectural patterns and technologies, with the ability to select & design around the most effective combinations to meet business needs.

  • Experience with analysis of functional and non-functional requirements, estimation of engineering effort and detailed appraisals of technical solutions.

  • Experience with domain modelling, analysis and mapping to business capabilities and applications.

  • Expertise with software used to create clear strategic/architectural documentation and assets.

  • Familiarity with high-availability and resilience engineering patterns, secure design principles and threat modelling.

  • Foundational knowledge of software development lifecycles, automation, application monitoring and management.

  • Interpersonal skills – Lead with self-awareness and empathy, inspiring other architects, helping them to understand how to meet organizational goals.

  • Presentation skills – Maintain a professional presence, confident and methodical, creating clear, well-understood analysis, reports and solution designs that can be acted upon.

  • Analytical and numerical skills - Undertake data profiling and analysis, deriving accurate insights from large volumes data with complex relationships.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills - anticipate and mitigate against problems at the right time, able to understand and articulate how the issue fits and impacts the larger picture.
