IHG Part Time Maintenance Technician - Crowne Plaza Resort Guam in United States

Job Requirement:

  • This is a Part Time Position.

  • We are looking for candidates who can work in Guam USA without US working visa - US Citizens, US Permanent Residents and Residents of Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).

  • At least two years of experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hotel maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.

  • Must be flexible to work all shifts required.

What’s the job?

The Maintenance Technician coordinates the installation, maintenance and repair work in the Resort. Manage a team of workers, regularly inspect sites, execute work as necessary, maintain equipment and assign workers to various projects. Supervise a shift, project, or aspect of maintenance/engineering operations which may include scheduling employees, assigning daily work and projects, training and coaching employees, inspecting work for quality and productivity, and initiating corrective and/or disciplinary action as needed.

Your-day-to-day

People

  • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads.

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communication and coordination with managers, team members, and other departments.

  • Advice managers on daily staffing recommendations.

  • Communicate management goals and ensure compliance of policies and procedures.

  • Conduct pre-shift briefings as requested by managers.

  • Assist in conducting performance appraisals and other HR-related actions as requested by managers.

Financial

  • Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment, etc., replenishes supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimizes waste.

  • Oversee all repairs and ensure that work is completed on time.

Guest Experience

  • Inspect work assignments to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and within specifications. Alert management of potentially serious issues.

  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

  • Respond timely and appropriately to guest request and complaints.

Responsible Business

  • Inspect property regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, water treatment systems, and swimming pool.

  • Assist in training team members on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and safety regulations.

  • Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.

  • Schedule and/or perform preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.

  • Support Green Engage initiatives in the property.

  • Be familiar with emergency response plans and be able to execute accordingly.

  • Assist with other functions of the maintenance department.

  • May serve as Manager of Duty as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need from you

Education - Some college or advanced vocational training

Service years - At least two years of experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hotel maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and skills

  • Working knowledge of maintenance equipment and hand tools.

  • Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.

  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized in order to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive instructions for the day or to read equipment safety/repair manuals.

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather

  • Must be able to obtain a vehicle operator permit

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally

Language - Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing)

Multi-lingual preferred but not required.

Preferred (if required)

  • Regularly carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds

  • Frequently standing up and moving about the grounds

  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the grounds

  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling
